Wang Yifu is a famous Chinese pistol shooter, and in terms of Olympic medals one of the most successful sport shooters of all times. He specializes in the 50 m Pistol and 10 m Air Pistol events.
Wang started to practice shooting when he was 16 years old, entered the Liaoning Provincial Shooting Team in 1978, and joined the National Shooting Team in 1979 for the first time. He attended the Sidney Olympic Games in Sep. 2000, and entered Tsinghua University to study management in Dec. 2000.
He is the only Chinese athlete who has taken part in the Olympic Games for six consecutive times from 1984 to 2004.
Wang is now the General Coach of the Chinese National Shooting Team (from Jan. 2005).
