This annual festival takes place at Shenyang West Lake, which is located in Qiandangpu Town, Xinmin City. The lake is praised as "the hometown of the Chinese lotus". In China, lotuses are revered as symbols of fertility and beauty. Shenyang West Lake has become a well-known holiday retreat, with plenty of tourist services available. The West Lake Lotus Festival starts on July 25 and goes until August 10 every year. Tens of thousands of visitors arrive to view the lotuses blossoming, and to attend the various music concerts. The festival is also an opportunity for businessmen to renew and create ties within the region.
