In the first week of May each year, Shenyang's parks hold a fantastic reception for the thousands of tourists that pour into the city, and apart from the usual park attractions, the city prepares additional events. Beiling Park typically invites professional art troupes to give morning performances (watch out for the lion dance, held every morning and evening). In Nanhu Park, another major park in Shenyang, large-scale recreational activities and painting exhibitions are scheduled.
