China Presence

Emerson's China business began as early as the late 1970s and in 1992 the company established itself as the first exclusively funded enterprise in China. In October 1993, Emerson Electric (China) Holdings Co., Ltd., became the first American company ever to locate its investment headquarters in Shanghai. From that point onward, Emerson's investment in China increased substantially. So far, Emerson has invested in more than 30 Chinese enterprises.  Twenty-nine of these enterprises are manufacturing facilities located in 11 key cities; Shanghai, Shenzhen, Suzhou, Fuzhou, Beijing, Tianjin, Qingdao, Chengdu, Jiangmen, Luoding and Shenyang. Emerson has also established five research and development centers in the four locations of Beijing, Suzhou, Qingdao and Shenzhen. In addition, Emerson has been expanding and strengthening its Asian purchasing organization in China.  Emerson is committed to China and its total investment in this country comes to approximately US$1 billion.

Emerson's annual China business volume is about US$1 billion. The company has more than 19,000 employees working in its China operations and is fully confident about the growth prospects for Emerson's technology and employees in this market. Since June 1996, Emerson has worked with some of China's top universities to establish fellowship programs for doctoral candidates majoring in electrics. So far the company has sponsored 30 such programs and supported MBA scholarship programs in a number of renowned Chinese universities.

Emerson Climate Technologies (Shenyang) Co., Ltd

Emerson Climate Technologies (Shenyang) Co., Ltd. is a wholely-owned company by Emerson Electric Co., Ltd. It was originally called "Shenyang Copeland Regrigeration Co., Ltd." which was a joint venture compnay invested by Emerson Electric Co., Ltd (80%) and Shenyang No. 1 Regrigeration Works(20%) founded in 1995. It changed to the present name in December 2005.

It is the number one semihermetic plant in Asia with 210 employees. Its product is semihermetic compressor, at present, 5 series of compressors being produced, which is"C"¡¢"L"¡¢"4S"and "6S",all these products are widely used for commercial, service, food, chemicalent.

Emerson Climate Technologies (Shenyang) has passed ISO9001,ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 certification. Meanwhile, The company has been awarded as Shenyang Advanced Foreign Invested Enterprise and AAA Credit certificate many times.

Company's History

1995-1 : Contract Signing Ceremony of Shenyang Copeland Refrigeration Co, Ltd. was held in Shenyang New World Hotel in December 8, 1995.
1995-2: Mr. Zhou Gang, Director of Shenyang No.1 Refrigeration Machine Works-China Partner, and Mr. Ajeet Singn, President of Copeland Asia & Pacific, were on the signing ceremony.
1995-3: On December 20, 1995, after being approved by and registered in the State Administration for Industry and Commerce of the P.R.C., Shenyang Copeland obtained its business license and was permitted to operate.
1996-1: On March 24,1996, 248 employees from China Partner-Shenyang No.1 Refrigeration Machine works were transferred to Shenyang Copeland, Mr. Warren Williamson, the General Manager, and Mr. Zhou Gang, the President and concurrently the Assistant General Manager, convened a whole staff conference. Shenyang Copeland started to operate officially.
1996-2: Office building and workshop were renovated in June, 1996 and put into operation in October.
1996-3: Mr. Bob Novello, President of Copeland, paid a visit to Shenyang Copeland on October 25, 1996, He expressed his full confidence to the development of Shenyang Copeland.

1997-1: The first Board Meeting was held on June 17, 1997. Warren Williamson left his post for home and S.T. Yeo succeed as the General Manager.
1997-2: Company organization was adjusted on August 15, 1997, 23 employees entered into the medium management team.
1997-3: Systematic transformation of the workshop completed and standardized management was implemented in October, 1997. On October 29, L model compressors were officially built in Shenyang Copeland.
1997-4: Mr. Bob Novello, President of Copeland, paid another visit to Shenyang Copeland on April, 1997. He expressed his congratulations to the employees.
1997-5: Engineering Lab was set up and put into use on November 28, 1997.

1998-1: Warehouse Material Flow Management System was set up symbolizing Procedurization and standardization of warehouse management.
1998-2: Assembly Line was transformed according to DFT, Production efficiency increased 50%.
1998-3: CDU Production Line was set up in April, 1998 through concerted efforts of Manufacturing and Engineering Depts.
1998-4: Our products were appraised as "Recommendation Products" by the Association of HVAC China in April,1998.
1998-5: Our products were appraised as famous branded products of Shenyang in May,1998.
1998-6: Shenyang Copeland passed ISO19001 audit in Nov.1998.

1999-1: Shenyang Copeland passed CCEE certification by China Commission For Conformity Certification of Electrical Equipment on March 9, 1999.
1999-2: The third board meeting was held on June 29,1999. It is best year in the 3-year JV history.
1999-3: Shenyang Copeland finance report forms were incorporated into Emerson Electrical Corporation from Sept. 1999 on.
1999-4: "L" and "S" series compressors were appraised as famous branded products of Liaoning Province in Sept,1999.
1999-5: Shenyang Copeland was awarded "Model Foreign-Funded Enterprise" title by Shenyang Municipal Government.
1999-6: "Education Practice Base" was established in Shenyang Copeland, it is a contribution to cultivating the professional people.

2000-1: Mr. Tan Sue Kim joined Shenyang Copeland as the General Manager on January 3, 2000.
2000-2: Cover Line and Valve Plate Line were transformed in January, 2000 and Production efficiency increased 44%.
2000-3: On March 27, 2000, Mr. S.T. Yeo left his post due to promotion and Mr. Tan Sue Kim, Succeeded.
2000-4: On March 16, 2000, Mr. Xu Wencai, the Secretary of Shenyang Municipal Party Committee, visited Shenyang Copeland. He expressed his approval for the achievements of the Company and hoped a fast development in the future.
2000-5: Shenyang Copeland passed "AAA" credit audit in May,2000.
2000-6: Monthly output broke through 1200 pieces in May, 2000, through joint efforts of each departments the best achievement after JV.
2000-7: On July 26, 2000, the fourth board meeting was held. Terence Tan reviewed the FY2000 work. Board members expressed their congratulations to all employees.
2000-8: 8806 pieces of compressors were built totally in FY2000. Mr. Tan Sue Kim expressed his congratulation to the employees.
2000-9: Self-made Vacuum Dehydration Device was put into operation on November 14, 2000, production efficiency increased 50%.
2001-1: Passed ISO14001.
